Most common perception is that animation is a part of VFX….Now, you can get the idea of the difference between Animation and VFX.

Gamers are usually pretty observant, and character animations only seem to get noticed when they don’t quite hit the mark. This week I’m gonna flip that negativity on it’s head and show off (in no particular order) a few of the games I think deserve applause for the quality of their character animation.

Video games are typically a much more realistic style of animation, rather than something like Toy Story or Megamind, of course there are more stylized animations in games like Wildstar but for the most part games try to be grounded in realism to help keep the player engrossed in the gameplay.
Semiotic mode. Just as machinima can be the cause of legal dispute in copyright ownership and illegal use, it makes heavy use of intertextuality and raises the question of authorship. A piece of machinima may be reliant upon a protected property, but may not necessarily be making a statement about that property.
Why don’t video games look as good as movies?
Games don’t look as good as CGI because they have time limitations. You need to display at least 30 frames per second for a game to be playable and they run on a variety of computer hardware some of which are not very powerful. On the other hand CGI is redered on a powerful computer.
They add personality, emotion and realism to the game. Animators also have a good understanding of programming and game engines. As game animation is often a complicated combination of different types of movement, animators make libraries of the movements, so they can reuse them for each character.
The future of animation looks to be on an interesting journey as the quality of films is becoming higher and higher. Most people would now aim for a 4k film, however to achieve this quality in animation would take twice as long to create.

In games you need to create animations that respond to gameplay, storytelling, mixing both together and dealing with a few other things. Most animations are short and as they are combined to each other they make the character move with attitude and conviction.

Is animation a stable career? Employment of multimedia artists and animators is projected to grow 8 percent from 2016 to 2026. This is about as fast as the average for all occupations. Projected growth will be due to increased demand for animation and visual effects in video games, movies, and television.
