The Sims 3 is not compatible on Macs which only have integrated Intel Iris graphics. If you would like to play the game on your Mac with these graphics you have to edit the GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr files. Instructions can be found here. Whilst this fix is working for some, unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work for everyone.

If that works then the installed game and EPs/SPs is fairly stable so the issue lies somewhere within the folder you moved out. The difficult part is figuring out where the problem is within the data.
