He knows if Glados knows she is Caroline, and therefore knows Chell is her daughter, she would never let her leave. HOWEVER, if he simply kills glados, Aperture would collapse and kill Chell and Ratman. So he erases Caroline’s personality from Glados.
Why did GLaDOS say she was Caroline’s Mom?
