You can’t make a lot bigger. The size is given. To place bigger houses you need to put them on bigger lots.

There is actually a mod that will allow you to make any size lot, though I’m not sure that this will extend beyond the max of 64×64. Several of the lots in towns as it is are created during the creation of the world, so you get really odd lot sizes as well. 64×64 is a pretty massive lot size however, at least in my experience it is!
