A new contextual action can be taken after highlighting a particular piece of loot, much the same way you would discard or inspect an item.

Is it pointless to tank in Star Trek Online?
DPS is the meta in this game, everybody agree. And tanking is basically pointless as you say, but you can do both. First, you focus on DPS and after that if you still want to tank, there are ways and equipment to do it. Not saying that things changed a lot, but right now is more viable to build a tank ship than before.
Do you want to be an engineer in Star Trek Online?
STO has always been in a battle to adhere to and redefine the classic MMO roles. You either have fun playing the game or you don’t. Engineers are eminently playable despite my preference for TAC I have taken all 3 classes to level 60.

Which is better tactical captain or engineer Captain?
Sure does your career choice have a huge impact on the game. The damage output of a tactical captain is double as high as on an engineer captain (514k vs 255k). But on the other hand, 250k dps with eng is high enough to do every elite STF. Just takes double the time to clear the map. IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT CLASS YOU ARE (…)
How does career path affect Star Trek Online?
Your own career path doesn’t effect gameplay as much as you’d think (on ground it does, but engi is not bad at all there). It’s just the few innate skills that are different (eg. miracle worker vs attack pattern alpha).
