Visit the house of the baby or toddler you wish to kidnap. Introduce yourself to his or her parent. View your relationship with the parent then drag the relationship bar to the top of the screen. Pick up the baby or toddler you wish to kidnap then pause the game.

I can’t be bothered replacing everything in build mode. You can work around this by having a klepto club. Make ‘swipe objects’ one of the club activities and no matter what level mischief your sim has, he/she will be able to steal the bigger more expensive items.

Well…my Sims can’t seem to steal ‘things’ if other Sims are even in the area… but I’ve never had them try to steal another Sim. You might try to send the family out & hire a babysitter to see if that works, or use a cheat to delete the babysitter & see if that works.
