All the Farcry games are linked via secondary characters but not via it’s main narative. Farcry 5’s villian and player character aren’t related in anyway to Farcry 3 and 4 (I’m currently unaware of any links between the first 3 farcry – 1, instincts, and 2)and the new ones.
How did Vaas die?
In the mission titled “Payback” you are sent to kill Vaas. You go into his compound and encounter him after the first house you step in catches on fire and you kill all of his men. When you encounter him, you get “stabbed” by something that looks like the silver dragon knife that Citra owned at the time.
