What can I buy for the Sims 2?
Buy Bundles to get more for your money. There were several Sims 2 bundles released that include expansions and/or stuff packs with the base game. Double Deluxe, University Life Collection and Best of Business Collection are some examples. Don’t buy “downloads” of The Sims 2. Digital versions do not exist. Look for good quality used discs.
Is it possible to get the Sims 2?
The Sims 2 (at least for Windows users) is hard to legally get unless you have the CD/DVD copies or gotten the Ultimate Collection. If you don’t have either, you can still get The Sims 2 but only on a Mac.

@moll_moo , unfortunately as Windows and Mac OS updates and change, many of the old computer games are no longer able to be installed. If you have an old laptop or Desktop computer running a version of Windows XP or Windows 7, you might be able to reinstall on that computer via the Disks and then copy the game files to to your new computer.

I checked Amazon to see if there were any digital downloads available and none were as all the copies I saw were CDs.

I’m afraid the only digital version available is for the Mac OS. There are no plans in the works to re-release the game at this time. @MegurineLukaV4X , EA no longer makes new CDs or DVDs for the game and haven’t for several years now. There is still support available for the game.
